Introduction

Eridge Village Hall is committed to reducing its environmental impact and promoting sustainability through responsible practices and awareness among its trustees, volunteers, and users. We aim to lead by example in our community, demonstrating sustainable practices and environmental responsibility.

Purpose

This policy outlines Eridge Village Hall's dedication to environmental sustainability, guiding actions and decision-making processes to minimise ecological footprints and encourage sustainable use of resources.

Scope

This policy applies to all trustees,volunteers, users, and visitors associated with Eridge Village Hall.

Our Commitment

Eridge Village Hall commits to:

  • Minimising waste by promoting recycling, composting, and reducing consumption of single-use products.

  • Reducing energy and water consumption through energy-efficient appliances, lighting, insulation, and encouraging mindful usage practices.

  • Encouraging sustainable travel options, such as walking, cycling, car-sharing, and public transportation for those using the facilities.

  • Ensuring responsible sourcing by prioritising eco-friendly, recyclable, and sustainably produced materials and products.

  • Raising awareness and providing guidance on environmental issues to staff, volunteers, and hall users through clear communication and training.

Responsibilities

Trustees and Volunteers:

  • Adhere to this policy and actively promote environmentally responsible practices

  • Implement procedures and activities that align with the principles of sustainability.

  • Monitor, review, and improve environmental performance regularly.

Village Hall Users:

  • Support the environmental objectives of Eridge Village Hall by adopting sustainable practices during events and activities.

  • Properly use recycling facilities provided and reduce waste generated.

Implementation

  • Regularly review and update operational practices to incorporate improvements in sustainability.

  • Provide appropriate facilities for recycling and waste reduction.

  • Conduct regular environmental impact assessments and act upon findings to further reduce impact.

Monitoring and Reporting

The trustees will regularly assess environmental practices and impacts, communicating progress and findings to users and the wider community.

Review

This policy will be reviewed annually by the trustees of Eridge Village Hall to ensure it remains effective and relevant.
