Eridge Village Hall recognises its responsibility in promoting safe, responsible, and lawful consumption of alcohol at events and activities held on our premises. This policy outlines our commitments and the responsibilities of trustees, staff, volunteers, and users in ensuring compliance with licensing legislation.
Purpose
This policy aims to provide clear guidelines on the sale and consumption of alcohol, ensuring compliance with the Licensing Act 2003, and promoting responsible drinking within Eridge Village Hall.
Scope
This policy applies to all trustees, staff, volunteers, users, and visitors involved in events or activities at Eridge Village Hall where alcohol is available.
Our Commitment
Eridge Village Hall commits to:
Ensuring compliance with the Licensing Act 2003 and all associated legislation regarding the sale and supply of alcohol.
Promoting responsible alcohol consumption and discouraging excessive or underage drinking.
Ensuring that alcohol sales or consumption do not negatively impact community safety or wellbeing.
Licensing Requirements
Alcohol may only be sold or supplied by individuals who hold an appropriate Personal Licence or under a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) as permitted by law.
Users wishing to sell alcohol must apply for and provide evidence of a valid TEN from the local licensing authority, along with obtaining permission from Eridge Village Hall Trustees.
Responsibilities
Trustees and Volunteers:
Ensure compliance with licensing laws and conditions.
Regularly review and monitor alcohol-related activities at the hall.
Provide guidance and support to hall users regarding licensing requirements.
Village Hall Users:
Must ensure that they obtain the necessary permissions and licenses for the sale of alcohol.
Ensure responsible management of alcohol consumption, preventing sales to minors or intoxicated individuals
Comply with this policy and all relevant licensing laws.
Implementation
Clearly communicate alcohol licensing requirements to users hiring the hall.
Provide information and training to trustees and volunteers regarding alcohol licensing responsibilities.
Maintain clear records of all alcohol licensing activities and permissions.
Monitoring and Compliance
Trustees will regularly monitor compliance with this policy and licensing legislation, addressing any breaches promptly and effectively.
Review
This policy will be reviewed annually by the trustees of Eridge Village Hall to ensure continued compliance and effectiveness.
